Currently, a lot of barcode citizen ID cards are still valid and used by people. However, up to this point, there will be no more Barcode ID cards in use.<\/em><\/p>\n

The time the Barcode Citizen ID was declared dead<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Citizen ID with a chip is a form of identification document issued by the Ministry of Public Security from January 22, 2021.<\/p>\n

Before that, people across the country were issued with barcodes or citizen identification cards. Up to now, these two types of papers are still used by many people because they have not been damaged, torn or expired.<\/p>\n

According to Circular 04\/1999\/TT-BCA guided by Decree 05\/1999\/ND-CP, the identity card is valid for 15 years from the date of issue.<\/p>\n

As for the barcode citizen ID card, according to Clause 1\u00a0Article 21 of the Law on Citizen Identification,\u00a0the ID card must be changed when the citizen\u00a0\u00a0is full 25 years old, full 40 years old and full 60 years old. In case the ID card is issued, changed or re-issued within 02 years before the prescribed age, it will still be valid until the next card change age.<\/p>\n

Based on the above regulations, the last people to be issued with identity cards around January 2021 will have to make a new chip-based Citizen ID around January 2036.<\/p>\n

For those who are 40 years old and are issued with a barcode citizen ID around January 2021, by 2041 (when they reach 60 years old) they will have to change to a new chip-based ID card.<\/p>\n

Particularly for those who are granted a barcode citizen ID at the age of 38 in about January 2021, they will have to change their card until 2043 (when they reach 60 years old).<\/p>\n

Thus, by the end of January 2036, all national identity cards will no longer be valid for use. The last people to use the Barcode ID must change to the new Chip ID in 2043, the \u00a0card\u00a0The Barcode Citizen ID is dead from 2044.<\/p>\n

8 cases where Barcode IDs are still valid but must be changed to Chip IDs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Pursuant to the provisions of Articles 21 and 23 of the Law on Citizen Identification, in addition to the case when the age is required to change the ID card, there are also 08 other cases where the user of the citizen ID card must change the barcode. new chip people:<\/p>\n

– The card is damaged and cannot be used;<\/p>\n

– Change information about surname, middle name, first name;<\/p>\n

– Change \u00a0identification characteristics;<\/p>\n

– Gender reassignment;<\/p>\n

– Re-determination of hometown;<\/p>\n

– There is an error in the information on the citizen identification card;<\/p>\n

– Loss of citizen’s identity card;<\/p>\n

– To regain Vietnamese nationality according to the provisions of the Law on Vietnamese nationality.<\/p>\n

According to the instructions in Article 11 of Circular 59\/2021\/TT-BCA, the procedure for issuing and changing a chip-based citizen ID card is relatively simple:<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Go to the competent police agency to request a change of the citizen’s identity card.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Procedure-handling officer searches for citizen information in the National Population Database to make a dossier for card issuance. If there is no information in the Database, citizens must \u00a0present legal documents to prove their identity.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong>\u00a0Take a photo, collect fingerprints, identification characteristics<\/p>\n

Police officers take photos, collect fingerprints and identification characteristics of people who come to carry out the procedures to print on the Citizen Identification Information Receipt Card.<\/p>\n

Step 4:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Collect the fee, issue an appointment to return the settlement result.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Retrieve the ID card, the citizen ID card in use.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Return your Citizenship ID card at the receiving place or by post.<\/p>\n

Processing time: Up to 08 working days as prescribed in Article 11 of Circular 60\/2021\/TT-BCA.<\/p>\n
